It all begins with a conversation

It seems as though everything currently is seeking to divide us.

Whether it be the media, friends, family, or the world at large, everyone seems to want to point out just how different we are from one another.

I find this to be the complete opposite of my experience. My group of friends is extremely eclectic and we all seem to get along.

My goal is to demonstrate to others during this divisive time, we are all pretty damn similar. Most people want the same basic things out of life. I want a platform to demonstrate to people we are all more similar than any of us realize. Therefore, the idea is simple. Sit down and have genuine conversations with people from all walks of life.

Praise & Testimonials

Hello everyone! I am here to let you know about a podcast called WHAT THE NICHE. Andrew Morris, my "brotha from anotha motha" has been working extremely hard on putting together this phenomenal podcast these past few months. I made a small contribution by writing his theme song. Drew sits down with pretty much every day people and explores they're Niches. He dives deep into the conversation because he wants to know what makes the person he is interviewing unique. Why did they chose their Niche? Who or what inspired them? He has interviewed many people with different backgrounds and beliefs. He mindfully and strategically maneuvers the conversation in a direction in which you never lose interest in what is being talked about, while keeping the natural flow. For his first podcast ever, he sounds like a natural, and I believe this is his Niche. I know, I know...another podcast added to the millions out there. Trust me, this one is insightful, inspiring, emotional, funny, honest and most of all unique.”

“It's been a few months, now, since Andrew got a hold of me asking about making a logo for his, then, podcast named: Those People. What the Niche is, in every sense of the word, is his brainchild! The podcast brings different folks, professions, and - as the name suggests -- niches into focal view; talking on subjects related to that week's guest and their interests, careers, shop talk, social discord, and anything else in between. What the Niche has a little bit of everything for someone. Colleen and I have episodes coming out at some point talking about Therapy ( Colleen ) and Whatever the hell comes out of my mouth! It's definitely fun times! I came on as a paid freelancer for a job, but slowly as the show moved along with each episode -- I've become a fan and friend of Andrew. What the Niche Podcast is highly recommended! And it's early days, yet. This podcast is just getting started!”

"There's something inherently wrong with the human personality. There's an evil side to it. One of the things that horror stories can do is to show us the archetypes of the unconscious: we can see the dark side without having to confront it directly. Also, ghost stories appeal to our craving for immortality. If you can be afraid of a ghost, then you have to believe that a ghost may exist. And if a ghost exists, then oblivion might not be the end."

What the Niche Podcast

has another fantastic episode that dropped today. Nathan Thomas Milliner is the guest and man is he intriguing. From horror related art and movies to charity related, good hearted, passion filled entertainment, Nathan is an awesome person sharing his love of life and movies with all of us through the art he creates. I've known him for several years and his talents never cease to amaze me. This is such a good listen, learning about film making and art from a unique perspective and he's a local talent! In this time of uncertainty in our city, this podcast takes you to a place where us as humans can see what truly matters..... life, the way you live it, what it means to you, and how to make the most of it. Andrew Morris does an excellent job making this conversation entertaining, fluid, and all around exciting to listen to. Well done guys!”

My friend Andrew Morris, a school teacher in Louisville Kentucky has put his passion for humanities, education and art into a new podcast titled “What the Niche” where he sits down with people from a so-called niche “group” to talk about the misconceptions people generally have or assume about you and those like you. It’s all in a goal to show that we are all far more alike than we realize and that our assumptions about who a person is, is probably way off.

I was a guest on his show and my episode where I represent the “horror” community will air in the coming weeks but his premiere episode can be heard here. He chats with Tim Neal, a martial artist, author, journeyman, father who discusses being a black man in America and many other topics. The shows organically stray from one topic to the next. Andrew is a great host and I enjoyed hearing his talk with Tim and enjoyed our talk as well.

Give it a listen.

"It’s amazing how a simple conversation with a person who when placed into a category, or “niche,” no matter how different from whatever niche you fall in, can show there are multitudes of similar interests and needs that connect you. We spend so long specializing ourselves into molds, cultivating appearances, and categorizing people based on specific characteristics, desired or otherwise. When we take a moment and listen to two people converse and hear a conversation beginning around a singular separating niche, expose preconceived notions as trivial and often false. What The Niche does an amazing job at allowing individuals who spend their days behind their own specialized lenses, see that we all have so much more in common than we previously thought. I highly recommend this podcast to anyone who ever had any thought about “others,”’ or haven’t. It’s a great segue into your own introspection. A great journey and experience of humanity, through the medium of conversation."
